Nowadays, most workplaces have adopted a hybrid working model, which allows people to work remotely and to attend in person based on what they prefer or what the company needs. It is important not to overlook our mental wellness during work from home. Although this can seem like the best option for most of us, it can be hugely counterproductive when we start feeling overwhelmed with stress, anxiety, and boredom – while also having to take care of our everyday life.
It can be difficult to balance things as a remote worker, especially when you don’t have a defined schedule. Still, leaving all the negativity aside, how can we improve our work from home mental wellness?

Set a routine and try to follow it daily.
Although a routine can be deadly for some people, it is the greatest option as our goal is to draw the line between your work life and personal time. If not, you may become even more stressed than before.
Try to follow the same schedule you would if you had your regular desk job and maintain the rest of your daily routine. Aim to stay consistent as much as you can.
Set up a workstation.
One of the keys to work from home mental wellness is to have a dedicated space for our job. If you don’t have a whole room to set up a home office, a small space in your bedroom or even in your living room can work it. Remember to take care of the ergonomics and to make yourself as comfortable as possible.
We recommend including plants and keeping the space well-illuminated either with natural light or with lamps.
Stay connected with your coworkers and your loved ones.
It’s important to stay in touch with the people we used to see every day at work. Maintaining positive relationships is a crucial factor in our mental health; thus, if we don’t take care of this, we may start feeling isolated, which can add more stress to our minds.
Moreover, maintaining good relationships also helps us stay productive.
Remember to take breaks.
Working remotely can be hugely beneficial but also counterproductive. If we make ourselves available all the time for work, we will feel burnout.
It’s essential to take breaks from time to time while we’re working. And by that, what works best is to go outside and have some fresh air, for instance – not just changing seats and staring at your phone, another screen.
As you’re working from home, your body will be in less movement. We recommend taking a few minutes to exercise and do some stretches, especially if you’ve sat for prolonged periods already.
